Human Right Commission to summon police officers for arresting protestors

The Human Right Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) said it intends to summon the police officers involved in the arrest of the protesters for an inquiry.

A group of 12 protestors were arrested at the Parliament entrance on Wednesday (4) afternoon.

HRCSL has given directions to the police to ensure that the respect the citizen’s fundamental right of speech and expression, and will not suppress peaceful protests.
