Neonatal Nurse Lucy Letby Found Guilty of Worst Child Serial Killings in Modern British History

Lucy Letby, a 33-year-old neonatal nurse, has been found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill six more. This makes her the worst child serial killer in modern British history. She has been accused of “persistent, calculated, and cold-blooded” murder of five premature boys and two newborn girls in her unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital in northwest England.

Letby was in her mid-20s when she first planned to take the lives of the babies she was supposed to care for. She attacked them in June 2015 and June 2016 while their parents and other nurses were away. She was finally caught by Police in 2017 and arrested in 2018.

Among her victims were two identical triplet brothers who were killed within 24 hours of each other, a newborn weighing less than 1kg (2lb) who was fatally injected with air, and a girl born 10 weeks premature who was murdered on the fourth attempt.

The Independent reported that Letby will become one of the three women alive in the UK who have been subjected to a life sentence, meaning she will never be released from prison.
