Flooding Submerges 600 Acres of Paddy Fields in Deegavapiya

The banks of the Gal Oya River have collapsed in the Nenakadu, causing severe flooding.

Approximately 600 acres of paddy fields belonging to the Deegavapiya Colony have been submerged.

Earlier, over 100 individuals from more than 25 families in Senanayakapura and Samapura, Ampara, were evacuated to safer locations due to the imminent risk of the Gal Oya dam breaching, according to the Ampara District Secretary.
