Suspect arrested over church shooting in Manampitiya

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a church in Manampitiya, police said Friday.

The gunman allegedly opened fire at the Jeewamana Christ Church (ජීවමාන ක්‍රිස්තු දේවස්ථානය) on Friday night, reportedly following a personal dispute with the preacher, according to a police statement.

The suspect was detained with a locally manufactured firearm.

An investigation is ongoing.
