Breaking: Court Orders Arrest of Deshabandu Tennakoon

The Matara Magistrate’s Court has ordered the arrest of former IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon and five others over the 31 December 2023 shooting near the W15 Hotel in Weligama. 

The suspects, including Colombo Crimes Division OIC Anselm de Silva, are accused of conspiracy to commit murder under case number 6314/23. 

The incident occurred during a police raid, resulting in the death of a Police Sergeant and injuries to another officer. Weligama Police had pursued a van linked to the shooting, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
