Breaking: Yoshitha Rajapaksa Arrested by CID

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son, Yoshitha Rajapaksa, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the Beliatta this morning (25).

Police Media Spokesperson Buddhika Manatunga confirmed the arrest and stated that the arrest was made on the advice of the Attorney General, citing evidence of wrongdoing under the Money Laundering Act No. 6 of 2005.

According to police sources, the arrest is tied to an investigation into alleged financial irregularities.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa had recently been interrogated by the CID in connection with a property in Kataragama. The house, said to have been constructed illegally, is reportedly linked to former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Construction of the property allegedly began during his tenure as Defence Ministry Secretary.
