RTI Commission Chairman Upali Abeyratne Resigns 

Retired Supreme Court Judge Upali Abeyratne, Chairman of the Right to Information (RTI) Commission, has resigned, submitting his letter to the Presidential Secretariat. 

Abeyratne previously chaired the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Political Victimization, appointed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. His appointment to the RTI Commission sparked controversy at the time. 

The Supreme Court later annulled the enforcement of the recommendations made by the Political Victimization Commission, raising further concerns about its legitimacy.
