CID Questions Namal Over 2013 Airbus deal

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has arrived at the Criminal Investigation Department this morning (26) to give a statement regarding the controversial SriLankan Airlines Airbus purchase deal from 2013.

The CID is investigating allegations of corruption linked to the transaction, which involved the purchase of 10 Airbus aircraft. The deal came under scrutiny after a UK Serious Fraud Office (SFO) investigation revealed that $16.84 million in bribes were paid as part of the agreement.

Speaking to the media, MP Namal Rajapaksa stated that he has been summoned to the CID frequently in recent days and that he has no issue with cooperating in the investigation.
