First Shipment of Salt from India to Arrive in Sri Lanka Next Week
The State Trading Corporation announced that 4,500 metric tons of salt imported from India will reach Sri Lanka on January 27.
STC Chairman Ravindra Fernando confirmed that this will be the first batch of imported salt to be received by Sri Lanka.
An additional 12,500 metric tons are expected to arrive by January 31.
The decision to import salt was made by the government due to challenges faced by local salterns during the recent monsoon season.
