GMOA Temporarily Calls Off Planned Strike After Talks with Health Minister

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has decided to postpone the island-wide strike planned for tomorrow (05).
GMOA Secretary Dr. Prabath Sugathapala stated that the decision was made after a meeting with Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.
The strike, which was organized to protest cuts to doctors’ allowances in the 2025 budget, has now been postponed until the third reading of the budget on March 21.
The GMOA had announced the strike in response to significant reductions in medical professionals’ allowances, calling for negotiations to address their concerns.
