Heat Index at ‘Caution Level’ in Several Provinces Tomorrow

The Meteorology Department has announced that the Heat Index, which reflects the temperature felt on the human body, is expected to reach the ‘Caution Level’ tomorrow (19) in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, Western, and Southern Provinces, as well as the Monaragala and Ratnapura districts. 

According to the advisory, this level of heat could cause fatigue with prolonged exposure or activity. Continuous physical activity under such conditions may lead to heat cramps. 

The public is advised to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated, taking frequent breaks in shaded areas, and limiting strenuous outdoor activities. Additionally, people are urged to check on the elderly and the sick, ensure children are not left unattended in vehicles, and wear lightweight, white, or light-colored clothing.
