Monument in Colombo to honor bictims of conflicts

The Cabinet has given its approval to President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s proposal to construct a memorial in Colombo, paying tribute to individuals who lost their lives due to armed conflicts, political unrest, or civil disturbances in Sri Lanka since the country gained independence.

The monument aims to commemorate not only civilians but also members of the armed forces, police, and ex-combatants, acknowledging the collective sacrifices made by all those affected by Sri Lanka’s tumultuous history.
