President says there is no election to be postponed

President Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament today that there is no election to be postponed because the Election Commission has not legally called for a Local Government Election.

He said at the same time there are no funds to conduct an election.

The President also said the proposed Parliament Select Committee to inquire into the Election Commission must be appointed immediately, to investigate all matters related to the LG election.
