SDIG Priyantha Weerasooriya Appointed Acting IGP

SDIG Priyantha Weerasooriya has been appointed as the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Sri Lanka, effective today, 27 September.

Previously, he served as the Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) of the North Central Province.

The decision to appoint him as Acting IGP was made by the caretaker government, in compliance with Supreme Court instructions following the suspension of IGP Deshabandu Thennakoon.
