Sri Lanka Navy Arrests 10 Indian Fishermen for Poaching

The Sri Lanka Navy has arrested 10 Indian fishermen for violating the country’s maritime boundaries in the South Mannar waters.

The arrested fishermen, who are from Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, were handed over to the Fisheries Department for further legal action. They were later taken to Jaffna and will be produced before a local court.

This arrest follows a series of similar incidents in recent weeks. On January 26, the Navy detained 34 Indian fishermen from Rameswaram and Thangachimadam and seized three boats. They were remanded in custody until February 5 by the Killinochchi Court.
