Sri Lanka’s Muslims to begin Ramadan fasting tomorrow

The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) has announced that Muslims in Sri Lanka will begin the holy month of Ramadan on Sunday (02), as the new moon was not sighted in the country.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection.
It commemorates the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Mohammed on the night of “Laylat Al Qadr” and is observed as one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
