Yoshitha Rajapaksa Remanded Until 27 January
Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the second son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been remanded until 27 January after being produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate today (25).
He was arrested earlier today by CID officers in the Beliatta area and later produced before Aluthkade No. 5 Additional Magistrate Pavithra Sanjeevani. This followed a statement recorded with the CID.
The arrest comes after the Attorney General informed the CID on 23 January that sufficient evidence existed to name Yoshitha Rajapaksa as a respondent in a land case valued at Rs 34 million.
The case involves a property at Sirimal Pedesa in Ratmalana and centres on Yoshitha’s grandmother, Daisy Forrest Wickremesinghe, also known as ‘Daisy Achchi’. Daisy Forrest, the primary suspect in the case, remains under investigation.
